CLAPHAM OLD TOWN – FRONT & REAR GARDEN RENOVATION
This project is a full front- and rear-garden renovation in Clapham Old Town, South West London, designed to create elegant, low-maintenance outdoor spaces with improved access, privacy, and year-round interest.
At the front of the property, we installed Kandla Grey porcelain paving in a stretcher bond pattern, framed with Lugano clay pavers and porcelain steps to form a smart, durable entrance. A bespoke brick wall with Kandla Grey sandstone cladding and porcelain coping stones adds structure and kerb appeal, while Polar Ice gravel and a considered planting scheme of Hydrangea, Salvia, white roses, lavender and Euonymus hedging keep the space clean, bright and easy to maintain.
The rear garden was transformed into a contemporary courtyard-style space with 27.3m² of honed Kandla Grey paving, creating a generous seating and dining area. A large raised railway sleeper planter, slatted trellis fencing and restored boundary walls provide privacy and strong lines. Lush, textural planting includes Musa basjoo, Fatsia, Phoenix, black bamboo, Chamaerops humilis, ornamental grasses, hydrangeas and salvias for a subtly tropical feel that still suits a London garden.
Integrated LED garden lighting – including strip lighting, wall lights and spike lights – is fully compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant and Matter, allowing the client to control scenes and brightness from their phone or by voice. The result is a modern, low-maintenance London garden that looks as good at night as it does during the day.
