THE NOCTURNAL ZEN SANCTUARY: A RACE AGAINST TIME
This project marked one of the most intense timelines in our company’s history. The Balham homeowners asked for a high-end “Nocturnal Sanctuary” to be fully functional within a month—and their baby arrived just three weeks after we began.
To meet this accelerated deadline, the Stuart Savage team adopted a dual-shift schedule, working late into the evenings in South London so the family could bring their newborn home to a finished sanctuary.
DESIGN STRATEGY & EXECUTION
Bespoke Joinery Over Standard Boundaries
The existing perimeter was a messy mix of irregular neighbour brickwork and mismatched fence posts. Off-the-shelf panels would only have emphasised these flaws.
The Shadow-Gap ‘Wall of Wood’
We hand-built every fence panel on-site, using precise 5mm shadow gaps and hidden posts. This concealed the uneven boundaries and created a seamless, architectural veil that appears to float.
